This week, we’re going to take a break from the norm.

While we’ve been sharing great actionable moves that we can all make to bring tangible results in our quest for success, today we’re going to focus briefly on the mental aspect of that chase.

While you’re making your to-do lists and checking things off, reading and acquiring new knowledge, failing, learning new skills, and picking up new lessons, there’s one mental part that should be the thread that flows through all of it.

That mental part is “sticking to the script.”

Others may call it sticking to the plan or some other variation of that, but the idea is not complicated. Actually, it’s quite simple.

See It Through

In your quests and endeavors, whatever they may be, chances are you have a plan. You probably wrote it down. There’s a way you want things to go. Maybe not down to the nitty-gritty detail, but some semblance of a plan is in place.

At the very least, you know the end goal.

The message for today is simple: never forget what that plan is.

Stay locked in. Follow it to the best of your ability. Don’t get deterred by setbacks and missteps. They’re all part of the process.

As long as what you’re doing is aligned with the end goal you want to reach, you’re in a good place.

Poised Under Pressure

The second part of today’s message is about poise.

While you’re executing the plan, sticking to the script, and staying locked in, there will undoubtedly be hard times. That’s when you need to be poised.

Don’t fold.  That’s when you lock in even more.

Remember, having a plan doesn’t mean it’ll be easy or smooth sailing. It just means that you have a path. You still have to walk the path.

Might As Well

It’s like driving home from a long day at work and getting stuck in traffic.

Actually, a better example is driving to your favorite place in the city, but you’re stuck in heavy traffic.

Now, you can stop driving, but then you’ll never get there.

You can pull over to the side and wait until the traffic dies down, but then you’ll probably be even more tired and arrive even later, on a road you were already going to travel anyway.

Or you can embrace the fact that there’s traffic, it’s after-work hours, and driving through that traffic is just a necessary discomfort you have to go through in order to get where you’re trying to go.

With All That Said…

So stay focused, embrace the discomfort, and stick to the script.

The results and the success will take care of themselves.

Eventually, you’ll arrive at your destination.
